Robinson was indicted on 22 counts, including attempted aggravated murder and attempted murder, in connection with the shooting of Amherst police Officer Eugene “J.R.” Ptacek during the standoff.

Opening statements took place Thursday morning in the case of Martin Robinson who is accused of shooting an Amherst police officer last year.
Martin L. Robinson took the stand March 5, but did not reveal much information on the events which led to the shooting of an Amherst police officer in his front yard.
The charges against Robinson stretch back to May 2018 when officer Eugene Ptacek was shot during a 12-hour standoff.
The trial continues for Martin Robinson, the former corrections officer accused of shooting an Amherst police officer.
He faces 21 counts, many of which are attempted murder or felonious assault.
